Keramedic® is composed of β-Tricalcium Phosphate with a purity higher than 99%.
Due to the composition of Keramedic®, once implanted on the regeneration site and because of the specific characteristics of the physiological environment, a surface reaction with the environment takes place slowly dissolving and providing Ca2+ and PO43- ions which result in precipitation of biological hydroxylapatite on the surface of the implant. This precipitation produces an interface of some microns thick where fibres of collagen, osteoblasts and immature bone with an amorphous nature appear that will later mature and structure while the implant solution advances into the bone leading to the substitution of the biomaterial for bone. In other words, the full resorption of Keramedic®. This process occurs at an adequate resorption rate.
